BE動詞+TO不定詞

一般的な英語と同様に「予定」、「義務」、「可能」などの意味で使われているが、「命令」や「運命」の意味で使われることは少ないようである。勿論不定詞の名詞的用法も多い。意外なことに、強い仮定を表すとされる　"were to-V"　も英国起源英文明細書１０件に対して１件程度用いられている。
