CASE OF

一般英語でも、特許明細書でも、 in the case of > in case of > in a case of の頻度順で用いられる。

"in case of～"には、｢もしも～のときは｣ ="in the event of～"のニュアンスがあるので、特許明細書での使用は少なめである。

一方 "in the case of～"には、｢～については｣ ="with regard to～"のような意味があるので、特許明細書では頻繁に使用される。

"in a case of～"は、英米起源の特許明細書で使用されることは「稀」である（日本起源の翻訳文ではときどき見受けられる）。

"in the case of sth"に比べると出現頻度は低いが、"in the case of ～ing"が用いられることもある

"in case when", "in case that"は一般英語で用いられるが、特許英語での使用頻度は低い（特許明細書では、英語を母国語としない出願人に使用されていることが多いようにみえる)

"in cases where", "in a case where"; "in the case where"は特許明細書でも用いられている
